There are various ways to spend your holidays; You could, for example, refuse to answer the doorbell, disconnect the telephone and lock yourself into the bedroom with a pile of good books. But this method has been proven to be not very effective: your next door neighbour might inform unwanted visitors that you're hiding in the cupboard and it will be very hard to keep them away.
An easier and more relaxed way is to rent a holiday home - a gîte as the French call it - in La Béchadie.
We have three gîtes for rent - the Pigsty, the Cow Stable and the Horse Stable and although their names may seem a bit strange, we are sure that you will be pleasantly surprised by the small changes we made (having chased out the animals for instance). So come and see for yourself.

La Béchadie is a tiny hamlet a few kilometers from SAINT MESMIN, a rural village in the department of the Dordogne. It consists of three farms and is an ideal place for those who seek rest and tranquility.
The domain is situated on a hill and the three gîtes each have their own private terrace, orientated south and south-west. Leaning back in your chair in the shadow of an old willow or cherry tree, you will enjoy the beautiful view over the valley.
Whether you love nature and like to take long walks through the woods and fields, swim in a river or a lake, want to explore the rich cultural heritage that goes back to the cavemen or have a chat with the locals about their delicious food - the Dordogne/Périgord area is famous for its rural kitchen with its truffles, chestnut liquor, plum brandy and many other specialties - you can be sure to find it all here: 'le temps de vivre'.
