The Périgord, as this region is also called, is hilly, sometimes almost mountainous. You can go for wonderful bike rides or go on long walks - you will find some 230 kilometers of walking tracks. In the immediate surroundings of La Béchadie is the beautiful and unspoiled countryside of the Gorges de l'Auvézère, interesting sites like the old paper mill of Payzac, the remains of the industrial past of the village of Savignac-Lédrier and the majestic castle of Hautefort. Not far from La Béchadie are the  world-famous pre historic sites of Lascaux and Les Eyzies, the cave of Proumeyssac with its stalagmites and stalactites, the Jardin de l'Imaginaire in Terrasson, the old city centre of  Périgueux, the medieval town of Sarlat, and the wine chateaux in Bergerac. In other words: no better place to spend your holidays!
